Strength & conditioning. Sounds interesting, right? Ever wondered what it really means though?
Is it personal training? Is it a flogging that only elite athletes are entitled to?
Not really...
Strength and conditioning training focuses on the tasks facing individuals and gives them the tools to perform that task more optimally and with improved results.
For humans those tasks mostly depend on movement. So when athletes come to Impulse we establish three things.
What are the key movement patterns we are trying to improve?
Which energy systems are required to perform these movements in the context of their sport/task?
Are there any injury risks facing the athlete either in their training or performances. If so how can we mitigate these.
Once this information has been established, we can then create a plan to take that athlete from A to B.
I have written previously about my exercise selection philosophy, please take a look.
At Impulse we use technology to measure the athletes progress. For example, we use the VMax Pro to track jump height and barbell velocity. We also utilise Wattbike for a range of tests to measure energy system efficiency.
Now. If you're reading this as an athlete that needs guidance to answer these questions, then use an expert at Impulse to help.
In early 2023 Impulse will be launching 1-to-1 and group strength and conditioning packages.
Make enquiries and book now to take your performance to the next level.
